When attached jpeg file is on the desktop of an opensuse 12.3 kde starting up or hovering over crashes the desktop

The kde developers (see link) pointed to EXiv2 version 0.23 which is included in opensuse 12.3

#934 exiv2json.cpp threw an exception on toLong() and I changed it to std::atoi.
The value is '' (the empty string). The following key seems to be somehow and puzzlingly broken:

Apologies for not giving attention to this sooner. We are preparing to release v0.25 and your file is no longer crashing Exiv2. I'm optimistic that Plasma will update the version of the library and this issue will close at that time.
