Good News. It's in the plan for v0.27. http://dev.exiv2.org/news/3 item: 5.3 Issues #1186.
When will it be done? It could be done in a quickly if you do it and I mentor you. I don't think it'll be very difficult because I think the 32 bit code can be refactored.
Alison and are now on India having a long vacation. The v0.27 project isn't likely to get under way until February 2017. It's not possible to say when the code will be available. It's very likely it will be easy to patch BigTiff into v0.26.
