Exiv2 on Windows CE & Windows Mobile

Hi,

We found a few postings from a couple of years ago where someone was trying to build Exiv for Windows Mobile. We're looking into the same, plus also for plain Windows CE, and just wondering if any previous effort was successful.

I'm the "MSVC buildmaster" for the exiv2 libraries. I don't recall what I've said about Windows/CE in the past.

I have never built the libraries for Windows/CE, although I have done work on that platform at work. I expect you'll be able to build exiv2 for CE using Microsoft tools from around 2003 and later. Earlier tools (for example MSVC 6.0) provide poor support for templates and the compiler will be unable to build the code.

I don't plan to support Windows/CE and MSVC, although I'm willing to give encouragement and advice if you decide to undertake this challenge. If you succeed, I'd like to ask you to consider contributing your build environment for use by others. That's how open-source works!

We had trouble getting Exiv2 compiled for Windows CE. But we did find an alternative that worked for us - libexif.
