When reading the metadata, exiv gives errors:

exiv2 IMG_9590.JPG
Error: Directory Canon: Next pointer is out of bounds; ignored.

exiv2 IMG_9590.CR2
Error: Directory Unknown with 14196 entries considered invalid; not read.

These errors indicate that there are issues with the metadata structure of the image. This is not an Exiv2 bug. You can ignore the errors in this case.
