Mike: Thank you for reporting this and providing a patch. Can you attach a sample image to this issue so that we can reproduce this issue and validate your fix?

We like to add the metadata file (.exv) to our test suite as a regression detector. If you provide the sample image, we'll take care of the test suite. Any image using the lens is suitable including one taken with the lens cap on the camera.

Please be aware that you can add this lens to the file ~/.exiv2 and it will be recognised without modification to the Exiv2 library.
