Description

Sir,

on your lenses list, I see

Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 IF EX DG HSM 1.526 yes no no
Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 IF EX DG HSM 1.005 yes yes yes

It looks like two definitions of the same lens. Which is correct ?

I am using the new Sigma "24-70mm F2.8 DG OS HSM Art" Lens, which is available since May/June 2017 in the US/Europe.
I do not see it on the list.
May be one of the two definitions is related to this new (better) Sigma 24-70 lens ????

Regards, Philippe

Can you attach an image for each lens please?

I'm not sure where you've seen:

Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 IF EX DG HSM 1.526 yes no no
Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 IF EX DG HSM 1.005 yes yes yes
Let me explain how lens recognition works.

The camera manufacturer doesn't store the name of the lens in the metadata. He stores a "LensID" in his makernotes. This is an integer. It's common for a manufacturer to use the same "LensID" for more than one lens and Exiv2 has code to inspect other metadata to resolve the ambiguity.

In v0.26, I added a "config" file: ~/.exiv2 into which you can can define the LensID and the Name of the lens. This enables you to define your lens without waiting for a new version exiv2. http://dev.exiv2.org/projects/exiv2/wiki/Lens_Recognition_in_Exiv2_v026_(and_later)/
