Exiv2::lensName and Sony NEX-6
Added by Malcolm Hoar almost 9 years ago
I've been using exiv2 very successfully for a couple of years. Thank you all!
I just acquired a Sony NEX-6 camera and the EasyAccess calls to Exiv2::lensName don't return any useful data.
An apparently valid string is available in Exif.Photo.LensModel.
For the moment, I've hacked my own code to use that.
However, perhaps you guys would consider updating the EasyAccess routines to do this automagically.
This with exiv2 0.23 of course.

Thanks, Malcolm. The team aims to please. Do you have a patch which you'll like us to consider for addition to the code base? You've contacted us at a good moment as I believe we will cut exiv2 0.24 before the end of the year. So if your patch is accepted, it'll be permanently included in future releases.

Sorry, no patch. It's been a couple of years since I last looked at the exiv2 internals and it's certainly not immediately obvious to me where/how to implement this.
I will take another look depending on time availability and if I can come up with a suggested patch I will definitely post it.

Hi Malcolm.
Please try this patch (it also simplifies the naming of manual lenses used on Sony cameras).

This seems to work beautifully.
Thank you very much Niels. It's greatly appreciated.

Andreas and I are both very happy that you will have write access to the depot. Can you contact me privately about this (robin@clanmills.com). I don't have your email address and don't want to discuss this matter on the forum.
